Jorge ''Boquinha'' is 65 years old and has been a fisherman since 1989, completing 32 years in the fishing community.  Before becoming a fisherman, he worked at the shipyard located in Praia de Bancários.  In his free time, he likes to fish, drink beer, play football and play cards.  He is the father of 5 children and is married.  He loves the project, he thinks it's great and considering the fishing is not very good, it's great to be part of this project.

Jorge ''Boquinha'' ha 65 anni ed è pescatore dal 1989, completando 32 anni nella comunità di pescatori. Prima di diventare pescatore, ha lavorato presso il cantiere navale situato a Praia de Bancários. Nel tempo libero gli piace pescare, bere birra, giocare a calcio e giocare a carte. È padre di 5 figli ed è sposato. Ama il progetto, pensa che sia fantastico e considerando che la pesca non è molto buona, è fantastico far parte di questo progetto.

Edson started fishing in 1970, when he was 12 years old, and has always fished in Guanabara Bay.
He currently goes fishing with his wife and in recent years has noticed an increasing amount of trash in the waters so he decided to start collecting it. 

Edson ha iniziato a pescare nel 1970, quando aveva 12 anni, nella Baia di Guanabara. Lui pesca con la moglie e, a causa della crescente quantità di rifiuti nelle acque, ha deciso di aderire al progetto di raccolta.

29 years old, born in Ramos, Ana Beatriz is a rookie in the fishing world since she’s been doing this for one year now. Also known as “Bia”, she lives by herself in Complexo da Maré. In her spare time, she likes watching series. She is really happy to be part of Ogyre’s project, as she always dreamt of helping nature. 

Ventinovenne nata a Ramos, Ana Beatriz è entrata da solo un anno nel mondo della pesca. Conosciuta anche come "Bia", vive da sola a Complexo da Maré. Nel tempo libero, le piace guardare serie televisive. 
È molto felice di poter partecipare al progetto di Ogyre, perché avvera il suo sogno di aiutare concretamente la natura che la circonda.

Luiz Fernando has been fishing for crabs since he was little, but at the age of 16 his father, who was also a fisherman, died and he took over his father's role and started fishing in the open sea. Today he has 2 children and 1 stepson. In his free time, he likes to play football but now he's too old (55 years old) he can't do it anymore because of his knee and back. Currently his go-to hobby is riding a bicycle. When fishing is bad, he tries to get other jobs, such as construction material loader and he even collects aluminium cans from the streets to sell to recyclers. He thinks the project is interesting because it allows to collect a lot of waste from the sea.

Luiz Fernando è stato un pescatore di granchi quando era piccolo, ma a 16 anni suo padre, che era un pescatore, è morto e lui l’ha sostituito, iniziando a pescare in mare aperto. Oggi ha due figli e un figliastro. Nel suo tempo libero gli piaceva giocare a calcio, attività che ora che è invecchiato (ha 55 anni) non riesce più a fare, a causa delle condizioni delle sue ginocchia e della schiena. Al momento il suo hobby preferito è andare in bicicletta. 
Quando si pesca poco, cerca di trovare altri lavori, dal caricare materiali edili al raccogliere lattine di alluminio dalle strade per venderle al riciclatore. Ritiene che il progetto sia interessante, in quanto consente di raccogliere molti rifiuti dal mare.

José Henrique, better known as Riquinho, is 40 years old and has been a fisherman since he was little. About 30 years ago, he was just a kid when he started. In his spare time he likes to drink beer and go fishing. Has no children and is not married. He finds the fishing for litter a great project.

Ailton has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He worked for 12 years in an airline company and is now the keeper of the fishing colony. In his free time he likes to tidy up and play dominoes. 

Ailton ha 3 figli e 3 nipoti. Ha lavorato per 12 anni in una compagnia aerea e ora è il custode della colonia di pescatori. Nel suo tempo libero gli piace riordinare e giocare a domino.

My name is Jorge, I am 71 years old, and I am happily married with a large family that includes 13 children. I was born in Duque de Caxias and currently live in Bonsucesso, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. After a career as a road worker, I have been dedicated to fishing for seven years, a passion I discovered later in life but that brings me great joy. In my free time, I love casting my line and enjoying the peace of the sea. I find this project wonderful and I am excited to be a part of it.

Mi chiamo Jorge, ho 71 anni e sono felicemente sposato, con una grande famiglia che comprende ben 13 figli. Sono nato a Duque de Caxias e attualmente vivo a Bonsucesso, nel cuore di Rio de Janeiro. Dopo una carriera come operaio stradale, da sette anni mi dedico alla pesca, una passione che ho scoperto tardi ma che mi regala grande gioia. Nel tempo libero, amo gettare la lenza e godermi la tranquillità del mare. Trovo questo progetto meraviglioso e sono entusiasta di farne parte.

Rodrigo, better known as ‘’Tecão’’, has been a fisherman for 20 years, lives in Praia dos Bancários, is single and has a 14-year-old daughter. In his free time he likes to drink beer and go fishing.

Rodrigo, meglio conosciuto come "Tecão" è un pescatore da 20 anni. Vive a Praia dos Bancários, è single e ha una figlia di 14 anni. Nel tempo libero gli piace uscire a bere una birra con gli amici e andare a pesca.

Jussiara and the beginning of her lovely relationship with fishing dates back to the golden years of her youth. In this perspective, the sea has always been fundamental to her, becoming the window from which she could observe the world and grasp her main reason of life. 

L’amore per la pesca di Jussiara ebbe inizio negli anni d’oro della sua giovinezza. Il mare è sempre stato fondamentale per lei, a tal punto da essere la finestra da cui tuttora guarda il mondo e da cui trae la sua fonte primaria di vita.

Samuel has been fishing in Rio since 2003 to support his large family - he is married and he has five children!
Besides fishing, he enjoys flying kites, playing marbles, and doing mechanical repairs.

Oltre a pescare, gli piace far volare gli aquiloni, giocare a biglie e fare riparazioni meccaniche.

Luciano is 43 years old and has been a fisherman for about 30 years, he has been a fisherman basically all his life. In his spare time he likes to go for walks, he has two children and is married. He considers the project effective and wonderful.

Luciano ha 43 anni ed è pescatore da circa 30 anni, praticamente da tutta la sua vita. Durante il tempo libero gli piace fare passeggiate. Ha due bambini ed è sposato. Considera il progetto efficace e meraviglioso.

Thales is 28 years old, he has been a fisherman for about 8 years, he has known Guanabara Bay since I was very young as he lives in the Maré community. In his spare time, he likes to study, go shopping and live a good life. He’s not married and he doesn’t have children. He thinks this is a great project as it creates jobs, provides extra income for fishing communities, and helps the Guanabara Bay.

Thales ha 28 anni e fa il pescatore all’incirca da quando ne aveva 8, fin da quando era molto giovane è stato a contatto con la Baia di Guanabara poiché vive nella comunità di Maré. Nel tempo libero gli piace studiare, fare shopping e vivere bene. Non è sposato e non ha figli. Pensa che il progetto sia molto buono perché sta creando posti di lavoro per diverse persone, integrando il loro reddito, oltre ad aiutare la Baia di Guanabara

Charles is 36 years old, he is married and has 4 children. He has been fishing since he was 10 years old and takes great pride in being able to protect his ocean. 

Charles ha 36 anni, è sposato e ha 4 figli. Pesca da quando aveva 10 anni ed è molto orgoglioso di poter proteggere il suo mare.

Tiago has been a fisherman since 2021, is married, and has 1 child. His family lives in the Z-10 colony where he fishes. 
He is very happy to have the opportunity to clean the sea in the place where he was born and raised. 

Tiago è un pescatore dal 2021, è sposato e ha 1 figlio. La sua famiglia vive nella colonia Z-10 dove lui pesca. 
È molto felice di avere l'opportunità di pulire il mare nel luogo in cui è nato e cresciuto.

Wellington is 42 years old. He was a locksmith before the pandemic hit, before starting this project. He is married and has a 14 year old son. When he has free time, he likes to play soccer, fly a kite and play video games with his son. He is finding the project ''beautiful''. It's only the beginning but it promises to get much better with time.

Wellington ha 42 anni. Lavorava come fabbro, ma con la pandemia è rimasto senza lavoro. Per questo ha deciso di unirsi al progetto, che gli permette di avere un'entrata fissa. È sposato e ha un figlio di 14 anni. Nel tempo libero, gli piace giocare a calcio, far volare gli aquiloni e giocare ai videogiochi con suo figlio. Trova il progetto "bellissimo": è solo all'inizio ma il proposito è quello di migliorare.

Known as “Tenebra”, Rogério is 55 years old and has spent more than 40 years of his life as a fisherman. Father of 5 children, he was born in Ilha Do Governador and now he lives in Praia Dos Bancários, where he is really enthusiastic about taking part in Ogyre’s mission.

Conosciuto come "Tenebra", Rogério ha 55 anni e ha trascorso più di 40 anni della sua vita come pescatore. Padre di 5 figli, è nato in Ilha Do Governador e ora vive in Praia Dos Bancários, dove con entusiasmo ha preso parte alla missione di Ogyre.

Pedro is 50 years old, he’s been a fisherman for 30 years. He has a son and he’s married. In his spare time, he likes to do construction work and go fishing. He thinks that the project is benefiting fishermen with their day-to-day expenses. It is bringing only good things and they’re helping to clean up their “backyard”.

Pedro ha 50 anni, è pescatore da 30 anni. Ha un figlio ed è sposato. 
Nel tempo libero gli piace dedicarsi ai lavori di costruzione e andare a pesca. 
Ritiene che il progetto stia aiutando i pescatori nelle loro spese quotidiane: sta portando solo cose buone e permette ai pescatori di ripulire il loro "cortile".

Odete is 55 years old and she’s been a fisher for over 10 years. She’s married, has a son, a daughter and a granddaughter. When she has free time, she likes to watch TV with her 12-year-old granddaughter, and on weekends, has a beer. She really likes the project. In addition to removing waste from Guanabara Bay, it helps to supplement her income at home.

Odete ha 55 anni, è pescatrice da oltre 10 anni. È sposata, ha un figlio, una figlia e una nipote. Nel tempo libero le piace guardare la televisione con la nipote di 12 anni e nei fine settimana bersi una birra in compagnia. Il progetto le piace moltissimo: oltre a permettere la pulizia della Baia di Guanabara, la aiuta a integrare le sue entrate in casa.

Gilberto, known as Gaiola, is 33 years old and has been a fisherman for a short time, about 2
years ago, he was a general service assistant. In his free time, he likes to take care of
birds, has a daughter and is married. He is very stisfied with the project.

Bruno is 37 years old, he’s been a fisherman since he was a child, born and raised in the sea. He’s married, he has a son and 2 daughters. In his spare time, he likes to go fishing. He finds the project awesome and his team is still cleaning Guanabara Bay.

Bruno ha 37 anni, è pescatore da quando era bambino, nato e cresciuto in mare. E’ sposato, ha un figlio e due figlie. 
Nel tempo libero gli piace andare a pesca. 
Ritiene che il progetto sia fantastico perché gli permette anche di pulire la Baia di Guanabara.

Francinaldo has 2 children and 1 grandchild. He has been a fisherman since 2000 and is very grateful for the project because it allows him to safeguard the ocean he fishes in. 

Francinaldo ha 2 figli e 1 nipote. È un pescatore dal 2000 ed è molto grato per il progetto perchè gli permette di salvaguardare l'oceano in cui pesca.

Jose has always loved the sea and started fishing when he was 47 years old. He immediately noticed the increasing degradation of ocean conditions, which is precisely why he joined the collection project. 

José ha sempre amato il mare e ha iniziato a pescare a 47 anni. Ha subito notato il crescente peggioramento delle condizioni dell'oceano, proprio per questo ha aderito al progetto di raccolta. 

Alair is 63 years old, he’s worked as a fisherman since he was 14, almost all of his life. In his spare time, he likes to take care of his fishing gear and make new nets. He has 3 children. He thinks the project is great for fishermen.

Alair ha 63 anni, è pescatore da quando ne aveva 14, praticamente da sempre. Nel tempo libero gli piace prendersi cura della sua attrezzatura da pesca e intrecciare nuove reti. Pensa che il progetto sia ottimo per i pescatori.

Gabriel is 34 years old, he’s been fishing since he was a child. He’s married and has a daughter. In his spare time he likes to watch football and hang out with his family. He thinks the project is really great because it benefits everyone.

Gabriel ha 34 anni e va a pesca da quando era bambino, ha iniziato da piccolo. E’ sposato e ha una figlia. 
Nel tempo libero gli piace seguire il calcio e stare con la sua famiglia. 
Ritiene che il progetto sia molto bello perché va a beneficio di tutti.

Mario Sergio Francisco has been married for 11 years and has 2 children. 
Increasingly unsuccessful fishing has prompted him to protect the ocean by collecting trash from the sea. His goal is to make the sea cleaner for future generations. 

Mario Sergio Francisco è sposato da 11 anni e ha 2 figli. 
La pesca sempre meno fruttuosa l'ha spinto a proteggere l'oceano raccogliendo rifiuti dal mare. Il suo obiettivo è rendere il mare più pulito per le prossime generazioni.

My name is Williams, I am 42 years old, and I have been a fisherman for 32 years. I am single and a proud father of 4 children. I was born and raised on Ilha do Governador, and I currently live in Praia de Bancários. In my free time, I like to repair my fishing nets, an activity that relaxes me and keeps me focused. I believe this is a really good project, and I’m happy to be part of it.

Mi chiamo Williams, ho 42 anni e da ben 32 anni faccio il pescatore. Sono single e padre orgoglioso di 4 figli. Sono nato e cresciuto sull'Ilha do Governador e attualmente vivo a Praia de Bancários. Nel tempo libero, mi dedico alla manutenzione delle mie reti da pesca, un'attività che mi rilassa e mi mantiene concentrato. Trovo che questo progetto sia davvero valido e sono felice di esserne parte.

Denis is 51 years old, he’s been a fisherman ever since he can remember, since he was a child, it’s his favourite sport.
He is married and has 3 children. He likes to go out fishing and diving. He thinks that the project is a very good initiative. He wasn’t working so the project helps him a lot; on days when he can’t fish, he has the income from collecting recyclable material.

Denis ha 51 anni, è pescatore da quando ha memoria, da quando era bambino, è il suo sport preferito. E’ sposato e ha 3 figli. Gli piace andare a pesca e fare immersioni. Ritiene che il progetto sia un’ottima iniziativa, lo aiuta molto perché non stava lavorando quindi nei giorni in cui non va a pesca può avere un’entrata dalla raccolta di materiale riciclabile.

Daniel is 64 years old, he’s been a fisherman since he was 7 years old but he only registered as one in 1999. He’s not married and he has a daughter. In his spare time, he likes to go fishing and he thinks this is a great project. 

Daniel ha 64 anni, è pescatore da quando ne aveva 7 ma si è iscritto all’albo dei pescatori solo nel 1999. Non è sposato e ha una figlia. Nel tempo libero gli piace andare a pesca. Pensa che il progetto sia ottimo.

I Made Purnawan is 49 years old and lives in Denpasar. He is married to Ni Wayan Arnasih and has 2 children. In 2005 he joined KUB Segara Guna Batu Lumbang, the local fishing community, because fishing has been his passion since childhood. In addition to his work at sea, he is also a taxi driver.

I Made Purnawan ha 49 anni e vive a Denpasar. È sposato con Ni Wayan Arnasih e ha 2 figli. Nel 2005 si è unito a KUB Segara Guna Batu Lumbang, la comunità locale di pescatori, perché la pesca è la sua passione fin dall'infanzia. Oltre al suo lavoro in mare, fa anche il tassista.

I Wayan Budi is 50 years old and lives in Denpasar. He is married to Ni Made Erniasih and has one son. He recently discovered KUB Segara Guna Batu Lumbang, in fact he only joined the fishing community in 2018, even though he has been a fishing passionate since childhood. In addition to being a fisherman, he also sells fruit.

I Wayan Budi ha 50 anni e vive a Denpasar. È sposato con Ni Made Erniasih e ha un figlio. Ha scoperto da poco il KUB Segara Guna Batu Lumbang, infatti si è unito alla comunità di pescatori solo nel 2018, nonostante sia un appassionato di pesca fin dall'infanzia. Oltre a fare il pescatore, vende anche frutta.

I Wayan Sember is 64 years old and lives in Kuta. He is married to Komang Seniwati and has 2 children. He started fishing in 2005, 17 years ago, when he joined KUB Segara Guna Batu Lumbang. He joined the fishing community because his parents used to take him with them to fish when he was very young. In addition to his occupation at sea, he also works as a LINMAS (community protection).

Si è unito alla comunità di pescatori perché i suoi genitori lo portavano con loro a pescare già quando era molto piccolo. Oltre alla sua occupazione in mare lavora anche come LINMAS (protezione della comunità).

My name is Salvatore, I am 51 years old. The first time I went fishing, I was only six years old, together with my father, who was also a fisherman. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday, and the next morning, there was an earthquake. That was when I realized that the sea was my place.
What I love most about fishing is that every trip out to sea is an adventure, even when you don’t catch anything. It’s this unpredictability that fascinates me—you never know what to expect. But for the same reason, the sea must be respected because nature can be both our fortune and our downfall.
That’s why I care so much about cleaning up our coasts from waste.

Mi chiamo Salvatore, ho 51 anni. La prima volta che sono uscito a pescare avevo solo 6 anni, insieme a mio padre, anche lui pescatore. Ricordo ancora quel giorno come se fosse ieri, e la mattina successiva ci fu un terremoto. Fu allora che capii che il mare era il mio posto.
Ciò che amo di più della pesca è che ogni uscita in mare è un’avventura, anche quando non si prende nulla. È proprio questa imprevedibilità che mi appassiona: non sai mai cosa aspettarti. Ma per lo stesso motivo, il mare va rispettato, perché la natura può essere sia la nostra fortuna che la nostra rovina.
Ecco perché mi sta tanto a cuore ripulire le nostre coste dai rifiuti.

Born during the war, I learned the value of hard work and sacrifice at an early age. As a young man, I began my career as a factory worker in a metalworking plant in Naples. Over time, with determination and passion for my craft, I rose to the position of team leader and earned the title of highly specialized worker.
Later, I continued my professional journey in a refinery, where I led a team of workers for several years. It was an intense and formative experience, but deep inside, I always held onto a dream: the sea.
At the age of forty, with the savings of a lifetime, I decided to make that dream come true. I bought a boat and began a new life as a fisherman. Since then, whenever the weather allows, I go out to sea with my son Giuseppe, who chose to follow in my footsteps. Fishing has become not just a job, but a shared passion—a deep bond between father and son, and with the sea, which I have always felt is my true home.

Nato durante la guerra, ho conosciuto presto il valore del lavoro e del sacrificio. Fin da ragazzo ho iniziato la mia carriera come operaio in una fabbrica metalmeccanica di Napoli. Con il tempo, la determinazione e la passione per il mestiere mi hanno portato a diventare capo-squadra e a ottenere la qualifica di operaio superspecializzato.
Successivamente ho proseguito il mio percorso professionale in una raffineria, dove per diversi anni ho avuto la responsabilità di guidare una squadra di operai. È stata un’esperienza intensa e formativa, ma dentro di me è sempre rimasto vivo un sogno: il mare.
A quarant’anni, con i risparmi di una vita, ho deciso di realizzarlo. Ho acquistato una barca e ho iniziato una nuova vita come pescatore. Da allora, ogni volta che il tempo lo permette, esco in mare insieme a mio figlio Giuseppe, che ha scelto di seguire le mie orme. La pesca è diventata non solo un lavoro, ma una passione condivisa, un legame profondo tra padre e figlio, e con il mare che da sempre sento come casa.
